NITROGEN DEFICIENCY

Symptoms:
Yellow or pale green leaves, stunted growth.

PHOSPHORUS DEFICIENCY

Symptoms:
Darkening around the edges of leaves, small or absent flowers, stunted growth.

SOLUTION:
Add bone meal directly to the soil. You can also add used fish tank water to the soil if it doesn't contain saltwater. This water is also a good source of nitrogen.

Symptoms:
Leaves with brown spots, brown or yellow veins, or yellow edges. This deficiency is more susceptible to diseases and drought.

Bury banana peels about an inch in the soil. Peels take some time to decompose, so this is a method that will slowly benefit your plants. Banana peels also deter aphids.

MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY

Symptoms:
Yellowing of veins and edges of leaves. Sometimes it may appear mottled.

SOLUTION:
Add Epsom salt directly to the surface of the soil before watering. Epsom salt is especially beneficial for tomatoes, peppers, and roses.

CALCIUM DEFICIENCY

Symptoms:
Yellow spots between leaf veins, rotting of flower tips, stunted growth, weak or dying stems.

SOLUTION:
Add crushed eggshells to the soil. This method will slowly benefit your plants, so make sure to mix the eggshells well into the soil to facilitate the process.
